CATES --John Eston Cory, 78, died at his home here Thursday morning after an illness extending several months. He was born in Fountain County March 6, 1886, to George and Lydia Hurley Cory. He was a retired worker for the Nickel Plate Railroad. Mr. Cory was married to Nora Abernathy, who died in 1918. He was married to Ruby Keller July 16, 1938. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Icel Donaldson, Mrs. Edna Roundtree and Mrs. Lydia Cleveland, all of West Mount, Ill., and Mrs. Adah Poling of Brickville, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Martha Parker of Lafayette; a stepson, Fred Stembaugh of Lafayette; a half-sister, Mrs. May Riley of Rensselear, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and a half-brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman. Reverends Alfred Dobbs and Bob Tharp will officiate. Burial will be in Snoddy's Cemetery northwest of Cates. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Cates - Funeral services for John Eston Cory, age 74, who died Thursday, Jan. 28, at his home, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs, assisted by the Rev. Bob Tharp, officiated. Burial was in Snoddy's Cemetery, northwest of Cates. Mr. Cory, who had been ill for some time, was born March 6, 1886, in Fountain County, the son of George and Lydia Hurley Cory. He was married to Nora Abernathy, who preceded him in death in 1918. He was married July 16, 1938 to Ruby Keller, who survives. He was employed by the Nickel Plate Railroad and retired in 1950. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: four daughters, Mrs. Icel Donaldson, Mrs. Edna Rountree, Mrs. Lydia Cleveland, all of West Mount, Ill., and Mrs. Adah Poling of Brookvillee, Ill.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Martha Parker of Lafayette; one step-son, Fred Stembaugh of Lafayette; one half-sister, Mrs. May Riley of Rensselaer; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
